ABOUT THE ARTIST
Brooke Correa is a Northern California based artist, activist, and writer. Her work is largely inspired by a desire to create a mode of connection and understanding between humankind and creaturekind.
She has shown her work in three esteemed solo exhibitions and in several group exhibitions, online and locally, as well as in printed publications. She has been awarded multiple placements in local art projects - most recently as an Assistant Artist in the Community Murals project in Sacramento. When she’s not in the studio, she is teaching art education to the youth at local elementary schools and art galleries.
Brooke studied at California State University, Sacramento, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and in Child Development in December of 2018.

"I am a wildlife artist, particularly inspired by animals that face adversities, whether it be through species endangerment or other human-caused threats. I work to bring meaning and emotion to animals across the spectrum of species, with a goal of creating a mode of connection between viewer and animal. I mainly work with drawing materials and am well versed in the likes of oil pastel, ink pen, colored pencil, and graphite. My favorite way to work with these mediums is together in Mixed Media works. I also like to experiment with color and push the boundaries of realism and surrealism in my animal portraits. I seek to explore the emotive and sentient qualities of the animal kingdom through drawn portraits in an effort to bring a greater understanding among humankind and creaturekind alike."
